In all aspects of life there are always deadlines, things
need to be done. In professional life and in Business School the ability to
meet deadlines is particularly important because it reflects that the job is
being done.
There is an interesting point though, I think there is a trade
off between perfection and delivery, and the willingness to deliver something
perfect should not interfere with the actual ability to deliver. Seth Godin
discusses about this and argues that sometimes is fear what makes people not to deliver under the excuse that the “end product” is not perfect. This is
fear to fail.
I would have to agree, especially because I follow the
premise of focusing on the 20% work that delivers 80% value and from then on
everything is a bonus. There is always room for improvement, so the important
thing for me is to deliver first and then to improve.
