I was reading this article called "Read This Before Getting an MBA Degree" from Tim Berry's Blog and the advice that touched me the most was "Don’t sacrifice a lifelong relationship for it". Maybe if you are young and single it would be the least important advice from the article, but if you are in some kind of serious relationship, the decision to get an MBA in another country must be discussed with your partner.
I feel very supported by my wife, this has been a decision made by the two of us and she has been really helpful during the application process, and I'm sure she will be even more supportive when we get to Manchester and MBA begins.
The MBA is a step in your development as a person and as a professional, that is why family support is so important, because it will be a life changing experience and when you choose to spend your life with someone else the change is going to be for the two of you.
I have to say that I have also been supported by my "original" family, my parents have encouraged me always to follow my dreams, so it has definitely been easier to make the decision and go through the application process thanks to their encouragement and advice.
Family support is always important when you are undergoing important stages in your life so, whether you are married or not, it's helpful to seek advice from the people who care for you.
