This is what I find amazing of the development of technology and social platforms, I will not be arriving in Manchester for another 3 months and I already started to meet my MBA class mates through the internet.
MBS has its own internal web site called MBSNet, and once you are accepted they give you a user name and password. It turns out that it is a very helpful tool since it's possible to obtain important information regarding the student visa, accommodation guides and how to open a bank account. But the most interesting feature is the possibility of getting to see a small summary of everyone's profile, it's kind of a business card.
The system allows you to upload your picture, your CV, your work experience and your contact information to create your profile. As you can imagine, the liking of networking that MBA seekers have is leading to a high proportion of profiles (including very formal pictures) being uploaded on MBSNet.
There is also a message board where everyone related to MBS can participate (staff, candidates, student and alumni). The first threads were about accommodation advice, until one day there was a post that said "I have created a group on Facebook".
Thanks to this great idea we are starting to know each other in a more informal way, which is a very good way of braking the ice and become friends before we even arrive. One of the best things of the facebook group is the picture section. There are amazing pictures being uploaded, some of them are from the University of Manchester and from Manchester Business School, which makes me even more excited about starting the programme.
